Abstract - scaricare il file per l'appunto completo Aldous Huxley was born in Surrey in 1894 into a family of noted biologists and
natural scientists. His grandfather T.H. Huxley had been a friend of Darwin and his elder brother Julian was a biologist. Because of problems with his eyes, Huxley was unable to study for a scientific career. Instead he studied English at Oxford and soon began publishing poetry and short fiction. His early novels such as Crome Yellow (1921) and Antic Hay (1923), were satirical portraits of English society, but his most famous and lasting contribution to fiction was undoubtedly Brave New World published in 1932. A mixture of science fiction and philosophical essay, the novel warns of the dangers of a genetically preprogrammed world and anticipates recent developments in the biological sciences.
